Just Because It Sounds Good Doesn't Make it Good!
Ah...look at France and Canada's health care system. Oh how wonderful it is...still full of problems just like ours. I love how the person creating a documentary gets to slant and edit it to fit his purposes and promote his viewpoint, never presenting the possible problems. No health care system is perfect and without gliches. Why shouldn't health care become a problem of Uncle Sam's? He's not really your uncle, and he just wants to take your money. The government is not a friend of the people, and has not been for quite some time. What might look good on paper and in theory almost NEVER works. Socialism and Communism might look good on paper, but they never work out...why? Corruption. Pure and simple. Money and power corrupt. If let's say, our income tax was increased by the proposed 2.5 percent, which would then pay for our full health care coverage, what could be the possible benefits and problems. Well, poor people could have the same access to health care as the rich. That would be a benefit. What happens when the government tells us that "Oh no, 2.5 percent is not enough to provide the best health care for you. We need to keep up with the times in innovations and technology, so we must increase taxes to provide the best service for you. Say the motion is voted down. The government says, "Well, since you won't let us raise taxes to improve your health care, I'm afraid that some changes will be implemented. We are going to have to close several facilities down because of lack of funds. We will also have to lower wages for medical employees or lay off several medical personnel to make up for the lack of funds." Trusting our health care to the government is foolish. Look what they have done with police and fire departments. There have been budget cuts that nobody has control over. After all, who would ever vote for FEWER police officers and firemen. Look what's happened to education since the government started controlling it. Look at the foster care system. In fact, I think the only thing that the government hasn't really screwed up is the mail system. And that's debatable as well. My point is, yes, we need to do something about the problems in our current health care system, but please don't give it to our government to control. They don't have the best track record. The problem with Americans is that we have become too complacent and lazy, too accepting of the faulty assumptions of the media, and, quite frankly, for that very reason, our government can do whatever it pleases because Americans just don't give a crap. Do you know why the health care system works in France? Because the French government has a healthy fear of its people. They know that the French will revolt if something gets too corrupt and out of hand in the government. Our government needs to learn a healthy respect for her people. That means Americans have to CARE!
